Don't Tell the Emperor, But I Think My Backyard Might Be the New Rebel Base

Ewok sighted in my backyard yesterday morning:

Luke Skywalker was there too. Leia and her friend the giant turtle were off at school.

Did you know that Luke's eyelashes are amazing in real life?

Durn it, I already redid the ears once and they're still too big. When my sister's family and mine went as characters from the Wizard of Oz for Halloween 7 years ago, this fur suit was 15-month-old Molly's Toto costume. I didn't think it would work because it was too small for Ellen, but it turned out to have wide seam allowances and hems, and once I let them out, we were in business. I took off the little terrier ears and cut up the tail to make new ears which I meant to look like an Ewok's, but now I see are more like Mickey Mouse's.

This is the way to get the great photos--do them ahead. I hope I get some good ones this year.

The costumes turned out fabulous. I'm so glad you didn't forget the giant turtle; Star Wars just wouldn't be the same without it.

I really think the ears are fine. Little ewoks have big ears, remember.
You are a costumer par excellence.

Um... the ewok is my favorite Halloween costume EVER. Favoriter than the time I was the Sunmaid Raisin Lady. Favoriter than the Energizer Bunny costume my mom made me when I was 12. Favoriter than the giant stuffed polar bear that was my sister's favorite toy but it was getting old so my mom took out all the stuffing and sewed a black mesh grin into his face to see out of and my sister got inside.

See, these are some significant Halloween milestones and Ellen as an Ewok is still supremely awesomer.

Oh. My. Goodness. Those photos are precious. The force is obviously strong in this mom.

You are amazing, and your kids are SOOOOO cute! Amazing costumes. I also love the costumes from the Wizard of Oz. You are so talented.

Again, I'm feeling a bit pathetic in my costume making abilities. The Ewok is amazing!

Wow! Love the Ewok costume. Luke is dashing. Does Ellen mind wearing hats? I can't get Ethan to keep the hood of his dog costume on. Any tips? Maybe if I took some fast photos.

Oh my goodness - Mary, why are our families not hanging out more?!? Completely ridiculous.

We have 2 ewoks, a Darth Vader, and an AT-ST this year - I only hope my ewoks turn out as adorably as yours did!

My cookie monster costume accomplishment this year is feeling so washed out after perusing your blog now. You put me to shame.
