My Kids Read Calvin, Just Like the Founding Fathers Did

Adam was done eating and wanted me to get him out of his booster seat. When I went over to unbuckle him, he said, "Give me liberty, or give me death!"

Me (very impressed): Where did you learn that?
Adam: From Calvin and Hobbes.

I'm so glad his older sisters are sharing the important parts of their education with him.

Wow. Two pictures in less than a week of one of my children with a finger in the nose.

Days after that exchange with Adam, we found ourselves at "Colonial Days," watching this actor give Patrick Henry's speech.

Miraculously, my kids sat and listened to the whole thing. And it might have been because I tipped them off to the "Give me liberty or give me death" finale before he got started.

You could do worse than to be raising little Calvinists. Like, you could be raising Dilbertists like I am at my house. (Well, really I only have one Dilbertist, but he's very devout. And well-versed.)

In the words of Calvin, "Aaaaack!" or is it "Aaaargh!"? Either way, I just spent 15 minutes listening (very half-heartedly) to a play by play of the last installment wherein Calvin and Hobbes try to outwit Rosalind the babysitter. Reese admires him as much as he disapproves of him. Hoping he'll learn the Patrick Henry part and possibly ignore the "girls and parents are evil" parts.

You know my kids are Calvin-a-holics! Glad the epidemic isn't limited to my family.

Mike got our kids hooked on Calvin and Hobbes, too. Sam wanted to take it to kindergarten last year for his "favorite book." I took it and read it to a class full of kids that loved every minute of it!

Thank you for reminding me of Calvin and Hobbes. Sundance is REALLY into Tin Tin and Asterix and Obelix. I will have to find some Calvin and Hobbes. He will love it!
