A Girl Can Dream

I called my neighbor after church on Sunday to meet us outside and take our picture as a family, since we were all dressed up already. No one else shared my enthusiasm for the idea, but family pictures are important, so I was willing to be the bad guy for now and let everyone thank me later. Once I'd gotten Ellen out of the high chair, made Peter abandon his industrious efforts to get lunch for the kids and had Zuzu put her dress back on, we headed out.

Here are some of the shots we were able to get before the camera battery abruptly died.

I like to kid myself that had the battery not died, we would eventually have gotten one where everyone was smiling naturally and looking at the camera. This despite the clear evidence here that Adam wasn't going to support that plan, no matter how long we stood there squinting in the cold.

still, they're really lovely. The colors are great and the subjects exquisite.

I think they are simply marvelous! Oh and don't you find that while you are in the moment of taking the pictures you are wishing and hoping that your children will look absolutely perfect...but several years later when you look back, it's that picture where someone is making the goony face that really makes you smile? One of my all time favorite pictures Natalie is scrunching up her nose something fierce. Not ideal of course, but now I adore it. Kudos to you for enduring the vicious reflective snow, the chilling wind, and those pokey branches behind you to capture the holiday season. Someday you're children will thank you...or make fun of you...or both.

Stephen said what I wanted to. You are so lovely. Does Peter know what a hotty he has as a wife? Does anyone use the word "hotty" anymore and did I spell it right? Merry Christmas you guys. I think the picture taking was a success.

i got your message about the life changes and its a BIG answer, which others have asked here and there lately - I'm working on it :) how to explain in less than 2,000 words? :)

My family takes forever posing for pics in front of the camera set up with timer and all. The chaos that takes place between each photo is really what you will remember and laugh at in years to come. These are lovely. Thanx for sharing.

I bookmarked your blog a loooong time ago when we became friends on facebook! (It's Emily from Fiddler at Sundance.) Anyway - I was cleaning up my "favorites" folder and I ran across your blog. Fun to see pictures of your kids! Your family is lovely! :-)
