New Top For Me. Me, Me, ME!

Just a simple summer top, but it fits. I wish I had more time to sew for myself, because it's hard to find ready-to-wear tops that fit well when your shoulders and hips are size large, your bust and ribcage are size medium, and your upper arms are size Hulk Hogan.

Fabric is a cotton gauze from the WalMart $1/yard table several years back. Pattern is Simplicity 3835. I modified the neck band to open in the front and added a button placket. And increased the sleeve circumference. :-)

Seriously Mary, you never cease to amaze me. That swing makeover is awesome. Also love the shirt. Hulk Hogan? I could only wish to be that buff. :D

Michelle, alas, my arms have achieved only the size of Hulk Hogan's, and not the buffness.

You are amazing. I also have trouble finding tops that fit, but I'm not gifted in the sewing department. So I buy shirts with stretch. Rue 21 had an awesome sale last week. I bought 5 shirts for under $20. SCORE! Logan wanted me to buy this awesome neon yellow shirt and a micro-mini skirt. Sadly I informed him that I was NEVER able to pull an outfit like that off. Sigh, let's see how he dresses as a teenager.

Mary, I kept meaning to ask you this evening whether you made your shirt. I thought it looked a little too nice to be homemade but then again it's so unusual that I wondered. It looks even better in person. Really, really pretty.

I have SO been wanting to sew for myself lately, especially wanting a new top or two, but when I have free time I seem to have only enough energy for reading (which takes less energy than sewing.)

Hey...those measurements sound EXACTLY like mine...plus a few inches! Do you happen to have another one of those tops to pass on to a friend? Seriously though, I am perplexed by patterns and the thought of being able to make an actual wearable garment is beyond my wildest dreams! Kudos!

Very pretty--the shirt and the girl in it! I need a size 8 in the shoulders and a 1x at the waist--so almost nothing purdchased fits. I alter everthing I buy--you've inpired me to just start sewing since I practically remake everything I buy anyway!
